WaterLipo® is the newest technology in minimally invasive, permanent fat removal and WaterLipo®  is now available in Chicago. WaterLipo® washes away fat efficiently and gently!

Liposuction has gone through a transformation in the last 30 years. Having liposuction used to mean general anesthesia, significant pain, bleeding, and long recovery times. Fortunately, that does not have to be the case anymore. In recent years, the most technologically advanced minimally invasive liposuction procedure ever performed was introduced in Europe. This procedure, known as WaterLipo® utilizes a machine known as the “Body Jet”.  All other previous forms of liposuction require the surgeon to physically destroy fat by scraping it away with brute force. The WaterLipo® technique, by contrast uses a high pressure stream of water to loosen fat cells from surrounding tissues. The loosened fat cells are then gently and easily removed. No laser, ultrasound, or other kind of excessive tissue trauma is required with WaterLipo®. Because the procedure is so gentle, general anesthesia is not required. The procedure is done in the office and the vast majority of individuals return to work within 1-2 days with minimal discomfort. Fat removal with water pressure alone provides superior safety, comfort, and natural appearing, smooth result.

WaterLipo® is the ideal procedure for those with unwanted bulges such as the dreaded muffin top, love handles, or saddlebags. Men also benefit from the procedure. Some have used it to get rid of embarrassing “man boobs” or to define the chin and jaw line by addressing fatty tissue in the neck region. Essentially, anyone with an unwanted bulge is a candidate for WaterLipo®. Because of the ease of the procedure, more and more people are deciding to stop obsessing about their body hang-ups and have them, once and for all, addressed quickly and easily in an office setting.

The Body Jet system has been accepted in much of Europe as the new standard of care in liposuction. The procedure was introduced in the United States in 2008 with an excellent safety profile and thousands of happy patients. Only a handful of skilled surgeons in the United States have significant experience with the technique.

How Does WaterLipo® Work?

WaterLipo® uses a thin, fan-shaped water jet channeled into the fatty tissue. The fat is then easily released and extracted. The suction device, called the cannula, removes the fat simultaneously as opposed to more traditional forms of liposuction. The “water” used for the procedure is a type of salt water that contain an analgestic to prevent pain and adrenaline to prevent bleeding.
WaterLipo® is a very effective fat removal technique without the severe trauma associated with traditional liposuction. WaterLipo® patients typically return to normal, everyday activities within a day or two of having the procedure with minimal discomfort. Because the fat is removed with symmetric water pressure rather than manual scraping by the surgeon, results are smooth and natural appearing.

WaterLipo®  FAQs

How is WaterLipo® different from other types of liposuction?

WaterLipo® is a totally new liposuction technique and the first of its kind in the United States. Using the Body-Jet device, this revolutionary alternative to traditional liposuction is gentle, fast and effective. Using the flow of water to dislodge fat, this technique is unlike any other, providing many advantages:

  • Gentle procedure
  • Minimally invasive
  • Rapid recovery
  • Excellent results

Using a gentle, pulsating spray of fluid, waterlipoTM dislodges fat without the brute force used in traditional liposuction procedures. Fat is loosened from connective tissues by the gentle fluid spray and then simultaneously removed. This gentle method results in minimal bruising and tissue trauma, while still achieving excellent body contouring results. Patients find this minimally invasive approach to be quick, easy and a great alternative for fat reduction.

How does WaterLipo® performed?

Tiny incisions are made near the treated body area so that the water jet cannula can be introduced just under the skin. Pulsating fluid than uses hydrostatic pressure to separate fat from surrounding tissue. When the fat is dislodged, the same cannula collects and removes the fat. This procedure produces minimal discomfort with faster and more accurate results than traditional liposuction.

What areas can be treated with WaterLipo®?

Just about any area with excessive fat can be treated with WaterLipo®. Typically, patients use waterlipoTM to address problem areas in the abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, arms or under the chin. Since the procedure is quick with minimal downtime, waterlipoTM patients often elect to treat multiple areas within the same visit.

How much does WaterLipo® cost?

WaterLipo® is generally less expensive than traditional liposuction because no separate fees are required for use of a hospital or surgical center. The procedure is done in the office.

How long does WaterLipo® take?

A WaterLipo® procedure actually takes less time than traditional liposuction because water pressure dislodges fat quicker than the manual scraping of fat which is done in traditional liposuction. The majority of procedures are completed in one to two hours.

How long does it take to recover WaterLipo®?

WaterLipo® is a very gentle procedure and, as a result, patients have minimal down time.  The majority of Dr. Joffrey’s patients report return to work without significant discomfort within 48 hours. Results are noticeable almost immediately but continue to get better as swelling subsides rapidly.

Are WaterLipo® results permanent?

Fat cells removed with waterlipoTM do not grow back. Typically, any future weight gain is distributed elsewhere in the body.

Is WaterLipo® right for me?

The ideal candidate for WaterLipo® is in good health and not more than 25 pounds overweight. Patients with localized, exercise resistant fatty areas are the best candidates. WaterLipo® is designed to address localized areas of fat. It is not a substitute for weight loss in significantly overweight individuals.
